May I leave things in drawers?
You can leave clothing, linens, and lightweight items in bedroom dressers, chests of drawers, dining room servers, etc... If the piece is too heavy, the movers will remove some drawers, move it into the truck, then place the drawers back in. All items in the drawers of end tables, night stands & cabinets should be removed; sometimes these pieces are turned upside down when packed in the moving truck.
What do we do with our hanging clothes?
We have wardrobe boxes available for rent or purchase. If you choose to rent the wardrobe boxes, the movers will bring them on the morning of the move & either you or one of the guys can put them in the boxes.
How are my beds going to be protected from getting dirty?
We strongly recommend purchasing bed bags for all of your mattresses & box springs, unless they are old, or are going to be replaced sometime soon. This keeps your bedding clean.
How is my furniture taken care of during the move?
All wooden furniture is protected with quilted moving blankets. Most upholstered and leather furniture is wrapped in plastic. All of your household items are handled with as much care as possible.
Should I disconnect all of the appliances?
We prefer that washers, dryers, & refrigerator ice maker lines be disconnected. It is important to have some dryers disconnected by a professional (especially if it is a gas dryer or hard-wired electric.)
Do I need to pack pictures and lamps?
Yes, all pictures, lamps & breakables should be packed properly for a move unless you choose to move these kinds of items yourself. We offer packing services if you need help with packing or preparation for your move. *(Please refer to the moving guide for packing tips or give us a call.)
How does the estimate work?
For homes & townhouses, an in home estimate is usually required to take an inventory & to determine the length of time needed to complete the job properly. Also, we need to figure out what size truck(s) are required and how many guys are needed to safely transport your valuable household items to your new home.
For apartments, town homes & smaller jobs, we usually ask you to prepare a list & fax or Email us. Please make a brief inventory and list all significant household items along with your best guess as to how many assorted size boxes you may have. Also, we need to know how you want pictures, lamps, & hanging clothes handled. Will you pack these yourselves? Do you need some help? Lastly, it is important to find out about flights of stairs, elevators, long walks or any access problems we may encounter.
Do I tip the movers & packers? If so… how much?
Yes, the crewmembers here at Moody Movers work extremely hard in all kinds of weather & sometimes under stressful circumstances. They go above and beyond to ensure a smooth move almost every time out. We offer a valuable service here in our community, handling your prized possessions with absolute care & sharing courtesy, kindness & trust with all our clients. Are my household items insured during the move or do I need to provide
my own coverage with homeowners insurance?
We provide basic coverage on a move at no additional cost. Supplemental insurance coverage is available at an additional charge. *(Refer to MM insurance information which explains your options).
Consult with your insurance agent & inquire if moving
insurance is included in your policy. *Please Note: Valuables, legal documents, jewelry, currency, passports & all important papers should be handled by you personally. Keep them somewhere safe or in your immediate possession during the transition into your new home.
How do I pay for the job?
We often require a 10-20% deposit to book a move date. We accept final payment in cash or check for local moves within Bucks County. For moves outside of the area, payment is required in cash,
cashier’s check, or bank money order. We do not accept credit cards.
